HOW TO APPLY TUFF TOE: STEEL TOE WORK BOOTS

TUFF TOE APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

HOW TO APPLY TUFF TOE - STEEL TOE WORK BOOTS STEP BY STEP:

STEP 1: TAPE

Set an area where the Tuff Toe material will go on. Whatever you're not covering, tape up - or be careful not to get material on.

Cover the non-work area with painter's tape or masking tape. (You'll remove this when you're done). Apply Tuff Toe from the tip of the boot to where the steel toe ends.

STEP 2: PREP SURFACE

The surface that you'll be applying Tuff Toe to should be clean. Dirt or caked mud can fall off. Be sure you have a clean surface; use sandpaper to scrub off the vamp of the boot where Tuff Toe will be applied.

STEP 3: EQUALIZE CARTRIDGE & TIP

Important! The 2-part cartridge works together to create the final material. Test a little bit of the material by pushing on the tube. Both the clear and colored halves should mix evenly together. (Use a paperclip to clear the blockage, if any).

STEP 4: APPLY TUFF TOE

With clean hands, apply the material slowly but surely. Begin on the sole sides and work your war up to the top of the boot. Take your time but ensure the material flows out consistently.

This allows the material to set so that it is thicker and more manageable. If the material begins to run, simply turn the boot so that the material runs in the opposite direction. Rotate the boot around so that the material does not clump together in one area.

If the material does clump in one area, scrape it off with a Popsicle stick.

STEP 5: REMOVE TAPE

Immediately remove the tape. Pull gently so that the material doesn't scrape off the boot.

STEP 6: ROTATE

The material is still wet; like cement concrete. Give it some time to harden. The best way to do this is to rotate the boot with the toe tip pointed down. Do this for 2 minutes until the material settles.

STEP 7: LET SIT FOR 24 HOURS

Let the material sit on the boots for a full 24 hour period. This is how long the material needs to be fully settled on the boot. After this 24 hour period the steel toe will be practically bullletproof. Anytime before this and it won't be fully cured. (After about 90 minutes the material will be 80% cured).
Speed up the process by putting them in a warm area so that the material cures faster.

There you have it! You're now ready to apply the TUFF TOE like a pro!

FINISHING TOUCHES:

Matte Or Glossy (This part is purely optional).

The Tuff Toe product will have a glossy sheen if left to dry. If you desire a matte finish, rub your finger across the sheen as it is drying. Important! Wait 30 minutes after application before touching it. If your Tuff Toe feels sticky then wait another 5 minutes and re-set. Rub your finger across the Tuff Toe and the glossy sheen will be removed.

How to Repair Holes in Work Boots

To repair holes in work boots you have 3 options.

1) Use superglue for small holes. Sandpaper away any glue residue once it hardens.

2) Use superglue and a leather/material substitute to patch over the holes. Use this for bigger holes.

3) Use a repair paste and leather filler. We have a $10.00 repair paste available on our website. >Shop QuickSohl
