How to Change the Strap on Apple Watch

Why Swap Your Band

You may want to swap your band for a few reasons. A new style may come out that you really like. You may begin working out, and want a more flexible-sweat resistant band. Personalize it and make it reflect your look.

The watches work with a clasp mechanism on the back. They’re not your standard watch-back. They come in 38mm, 42mm and 44mm.

How to Change the Strap on Apple Watch

(Optional first step): Set up a workstation by laying down a soft cloth so that the watch does not get scratched. This helps if you have clumsy hands or you mistakenly drop it.

How to Remove the Band

  1. Flip the watch over. It should be face down on the table.
  2. Hold down the band release button to release the strap. (These are two buttons on the watch-back, shaped like ovals/rectangles). Push on one a fingernail and at the same time begin sliding the corresponding band.
  3. Slide the band out. (They can slide out in either direction). If you have a metal band where both sides are clasped, press both band release buttons at the same time and shimmy the bands out a little bit at a time.

How to Put on a New Band

  1. Line up the top of watch with the buckled end. Slide in. The band should curve towards you so as to fit your wrist, not inverse.
  2. Line up the bottom of watch with the longest band and slide it in.
  3. Slide in the bands until they click into place.

Important:

How do you know which end of the band goes on the watch?

-The buckled (shorter) band goes on top of the watch.

-The longer band goes on the bottom of the watch.

What are the three grooves on the band?

-The band has three grooves where it connects to the watch. These grooves are magnetized and enable the bands to hold on tight.

There you have it!
